IF YOU DO TOMORROW WHAT YOU DID TODAY, YOU WILL GET TOMORROW WHAT YOU GOT TODAY

Did you know that the average person earns 3-5% more each year. So it takes an average of 20 years for someone to double their income.  Crazy right???  But we see people all the time who double their income in 1 year or a couple of years and wonder how they did it.  Each an every day they wake, up they think differently and they do things differently.

This is such a great video and would love to hear your thoughts?

You Can Always Succeed At Something

Today I went and watched a great movie “The Theory Of Everything” the story of Stephen Hawking.  Needless to say it was an extremely inspirational movie and I got a lot out of it, even if science isn’t my thing.  The quote above is one that really stood out for me and I wanted to share.  When we are feeling low and life isn’t looking that crash hot we can tend to only see the negatives and failures.  This quote reminds me to embrace and appreciate the little things in life and look at what I have already achieved.

What is one thing that you have achieved recently, it can be big or small?

Tired Of Falling Off The Band Wagon?

bandwagon

How many times have you said you are going to change something or do something, but not follow through.  You might do it for a little while, but then resort back to your old habits.  If you fall into this category then I can totally relate.  It is frustrating, tiring and does nothing for your confidence levels.  You kind of feel like why bother and I have been there plenty of times myself.  I am here to help you overcome this issue and finally achieve your goals.  Let me run through the 7 steps that I use which is helping me achieve my goals.

  1. MINDSET –  I can not stress how important this is.  If you don’t have this than it is not worth even starting because it will sabotage you quicker than you can say your name.  How do we change it?  Well personal development is a great tool and one that I use on a daily basis.  Your first step before you start anything else is Mindset Mindset Mindset.
  2. MEDITATION/VISUALISATION –  Now I know this may seem a little hippy to some, but I have found that this is one thing that really has been the change lately and noticed the effect it has.  You don’t have to meditate for hours, in fact I have a guided meditation that I do in the morning that goes for 11 minutes.  During this time visualise what it is you are wanting to achieve and how it feels.  When I have finished it makes me feel calm, balanced and ready to take on the world
  3. COMMUNITY – You are always going to be more successful when you surround yourself with the right people.  You want positive people who are moving in a similar direction that you want to head.  If you are overweight and unhealthy then you need to go and hang out with healthy people.  This may mean that you may have to limit the time or cut it out altogether with the people you currently hang around with.  I know it can be hard to do this and we allow guilt to dictate our decisions.  There is a saying “sometimes you have to let go of the old so you can make room for the new”.  That is life and if you truly want to achieve your goal then you need to overcome your fear and guilt.
  4. POSTURE – Act as if you are already living the life that you want and have a bit of fun with it.  LIFE DOES NOT HAVE TO BE BORING!! So often we do things the wrong way around and you might catch yourself saying I will be confident when I am thin.  This is the attitude of Have Do Be.  What you need to do is change it around to a Be Do Have posture.  So be confident, take the action towards your goal and then you will be thin.  If you think it sounds simple it’s because it is, doesn’t mean it won’t require work.  We as humans like to complicate things.
  5. COUNT YOUR WINS – We spend so much time focusing on the negative, what we didn’t do, what we did do, what we haven’t achieved.  That is not motivating for anyone, in fact it is making me feel unmotivated just writing it.  Count your wins, focus on the positive, each night write down 10 things that you achieved, even if it is “I didn’t hit the snooze button on my alarm this morning”.  That is a win and you should celebrate it.  Also be sure to set yourself little milestones and reward yourself for reaching them.
  6. GRATITUDE – This one is probably just as important as the first and one that probably isn’t practiced enough.  Be grateful for things, anything, everything.  By being grateful not only are you putting positive energy out into the universe, but it allows you to place a focus on what you have rather than what you don’t have.
  7. SOLUTIONS NOT EXCUSES – Have you found yourself coming up with every excuse under the sun for not doing something and then bitching later because you didn’t do it, surely I can’t be the only one.  When you hear yourself coming up with an excuse, turn it around and ask yourself, “what is the solution”.  STOP BUYING YOUR EXCUSES!!!!

I really hope these steps help you when setting your next goal.  I do apologise about the length, it was only supposed to be about 4 steps, but I guess I got a little carried away.

I would love to hear your thoughts and what your goals are.

Part 7 – Community

So far in the 7 steps to achieving success we have looked at goal setting, meditation, beliefs, stoppers, reflection, and language.  The final step in this is probably one of the most crucial and can be the final stumbling block for people and that is community, the people you surround yourself with.

I am sure you have heard saying like “you are a product of your surroundings”, “you become what you hang around with” and ” you are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with”.  In order to create the success you desire you need to ensure you are surrounding yourself with the people who are going to enable you, not disable you.  This can be tough because some of the people who end up working against you are your own family.  I am not saying you need to cut these people out of your life completely, but simply limit the time and influence they have on your life.

Once you have looked at the previous steps you will have a pretty good idea as to where you are wanting to head and what you are wanting to achieve. You then need to find people who are on a similar path or have already traveled the path.  These are the people that you need to spend more of your time with.  When you are in the process of doing this be sure that you don’t full into the trap of explaining or justifying your actions.  It is your dream, your goals, your life and no one will understand it like you do and you can’t expect them to.  I hope these steps help you in achieving all that you desire for your life.

Part 6 – Language

How much attention do you pay on the words you use on a daily basis and the story you are telling yourself?  Did you know that something as simple as a word you are using can make all the difference?  If you have been following and implementing the previous 5 steps I have discussed than it will all start making sense and hopefully you will be noticing some new results.

Let’s look at the story you are telling yourself and you may be wondering what the hell I am on about?  Let me explain…..and the best way I can do this is to give you an example.  At high school I was never a good long distance runner, in fact I did an 8oo meter race once and felt like I was dying at the end.  Therefore I have always said that I am not a long distance runner, this was the story I was telling myself.  Any way not long after recently having my son I wanted to do a 5km run.  Yep, big difference between 8oo meters and 5km so how was I going to achieve this if I am not a long distance runner.  I had to change my story.  I had to create a story that was going to help me in achieving my goal.  I started telling myself that I am powerful, full of energy and love running long distance and for some you may think this is a little silly, but trust me it really works.  A little bit of training and lots of work on my mind and I did that 5km run only 10 weeks after having my son.

Now let’s take a look at the language we use, and nothing makes you realise what you say as much as your 3 year old repeating and using the same language.  I don’t know about you, but until I started paying more attention I didn’t realise how much language was sabotaging my success.  Do you use words like try and can’t which our mind automatically associates with failure.  Maybe you use words like stressed or frustrated which will make you just more stressed and frustrated.  Try changing just a few of your words to attempt, can or challenged which your brain will associate with more positive outcomes.

I would love to hear from anyone who has used any of the tips I have provided so far and to let me know how you have been going and what results you have noticed.  Happy growing!!

7 STEPS TO ACHIEVING SUCCESS

Part 5 – Reflection/Counting Wins

So often we go about life so focused on the destination that we miss the journey.  Imagine you are driving along the Great Ocean Road heading to Melbourne.  It is night time and all you can see is 20 meters of the road in front of you.  You drive through the night and you arrive at your destination, but anyone who has heard or been along the Great Ocean Road knows how beautiful it is and how much there is to see.  Well this is how we look at life, so focused on the finish line that we miss so much of what was on the way.  Learning to reflect not only helps to keep you focused, stay positive, learn and get to your destination quicker, but it allows you to take a moment to appreciate the journey.

How much time do you spend reflecting?  Journaling is a great way to reflect, but it is important to be honest with yourself, without beating yourself up of course.  We talk about people who lie to us, but what you can forget is sometimes the biggest lie might be the one you tell yourself.  Certainly it is not something you do on purpose, but more something you have been conditioned to do.  You get taught to follow the rules, to obey and sometimes in doing so you learn to tune out to your inner-self, your intuition.  Use journaling as a way to ask yourself questions about what is true and what is not, to seek guidance and gain clarity.

Once you have been through the journaling process I like to finish my day counting my wins.  We have become a society that spends it’s time focusing on the negative and what we didn’t get done and yes this may be a big list some days.  This in turn sends out negative vibrations which will inevitably derail your progress.  Be kind to yourself and reward yourself by looking at what you DID do as you will find it much more productive.  You can start small and it might be something as simple as getting out of bed on time, getting that load of washing done.  I try to list at least 10 wins for the day which helps to end my day on a really positive note.  The more often you do this the easier it becomes and the more positive things you will see from your day.  Your day will always be filled with good and bad, positive and negative, pain and pleasure, but it is where you choose to place your focus that makes all the difference.

Make a conscious decision today to place more of your focus on the journey.  Feel free to share your wins in the comments section below. It is much more fun when you can share your wins with others.
